महत्व एवं कथा (Significance)
Raksha Bandhan ("the bond of protection") celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. A sister ties a rakhi — a sacred thread — around her brother's wrist, praying for his well-being, while he promises to protect and support her, often marking the moment with a gift.
The festival's origins are traced to several legends, including Draupadi tying a strip of cloth on Krishna's wrist after he was injured, and Krishna promising to protect her in return — a promise he is said to have honoured during her disrobing in the Mahabharata.
