Griha Pravesh Puja Vidhi

The sacred house-warming ritual performed before moving into a new home with Vastu Shanti and Mangal Kalash vidhi.

आवश्यक पूजा सामग्री (Required Samagri)

  • A copper or brass kalash filled with Ganga water, topped with mango leaves and a coconut wrapped in red thread (moli)
  • An idol or photo of Lord Ganesha and chosen family deity
  • Milk and a new vessel for the boiling milk ceremony
  • Roli, akshat, flowers, turmeric (haldi), and a ghee diya
  • Fresh mango leaves for the entrance toran and kumkum for Swastik on the door
  • Havan samagri and dry wood (if performing a home havan)

पूजा विधि क्रम (Step-by-Step Procedure)

  1. Select an auspicious muhurat avoiding inauspicious nakshatras and Rahukaal.
  2. Decorate the main entrance (Simha Dwara) with mango-leaf toran, fresh flowers, and auspicious Swastika symbols with roli.
  3. Begin with Ganesh Puja and Vastu Puja to harmonize and sanctify the energies of the home.
  4. The householder and family enter the home carrying the sacred Kalash, stepping inside with the right foot first.
  5. Boil milk on the kitchen stove until it gently overflows, symbolizing abundance, warmth, and lifelong nourishment.
  6. Light the first diya in the home puja temple and perform the deity aarti.
  7. Conclude with distribution of prasad and sharing food with family, friends, and workers who built the home.
