History

Ambaji in Banaskantha, Gujarat, is a Maha Shakti Peetha where the sanctum holds no anthropomorphic murti — only a sacred Vishwa Yantra covered with a cloth. Gabbar hill nearby is the original seat; a large temple town has grown at its foot. Bhadrapad Poornima and Navratri are the great fairs.
