History

Chintpurni in Una district is a major Himachal Shakti shrine, often visited with Jwalamukhi and Naina Devi as a hill Peetha triangle. The temple sits in the Shivalik foothills and draws huge Navratri crowds from Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi.

Legends

• The Goddess is Chhinnamastika / Chintpurni — she who cuts away chinta (worry). Sati’s feet (or forehead, in some tellings) are associated with this peetha.
• A sincere vow made here is believed to be fulfilled; devotees return with coconuts and chunari offerings.
