History
Ranjangaon’s Mahaganapati temple is one of the Ashtavinayak, known for the Mahakaya (large-bodied) form of Ganesha. It lies east of Pune and draws devotees completing the eight-temple circuit.
Legends
- Local tradition links the idol to Ganesha revealing his true cosmic form (virat roop) to a devotee — a theme of divine scale and protection.
- The temple was patronised by the Peshwas and remains a weekday-quiet alternative to busier Ashtavinayak stops.
