History

Baijnath on the Gomati in Bageshwar district is a 13th-century Katyuri-style Shiva temple in Kumaon. The stone shikhara and river setting make it a classic Himalayan nagara shrine still in worship.

• Baijnath / Vaidyanath here is the physician form of Shiva, parallel in name to Deoghar but a distinct Kumaoni kshetra.
