Basistha (Vasistha) temple in a wooded corner of Guwahati is a cave-and-ashram Shiva site associated with sage Vasistha. A spring and forest path give it the feel of a hermitage inside the city.

Vasistha is said to have established his ashram and a Shiva lingam here on the way through Pragjyotisha (ancient Assam).
