History
Moodgal Keshavanatheshwara is a cave Shiva shrine in the Mookambika reserve forests of Udupi district. Devotees wade a forest stream to reach the lingam — an older Malnad style of vanayatra still practised.
Legends
- Local Tulu-Kannada lore treats the cave lingam as swayambhu, discovered by forest-dwellers and sages.
- Fish in the stream are not harmed; they are part of the sacred approach.
