History

Ashwaklanta on the north bank of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati is a Vishnu shrine linked to a Mahabharata horse legend and to river-sunset darshan. Ahom-period structures overlook the water.

Legends

• Krishna’s horse is said to have rested (klanta) here — hence Ashwa-klanta — while the Pandava story moved through Pragjyotisha.
